Time’s Up!
The Art of Finishing Well
Do you remember taking standardized tests in school with time limits for each section? I can still hear the words, “Time’s up. Put your pencils down.” What was your typical reaction when you heard those words? Did you quickly count how many questions remained unanswered? Did your heart sink because of the unfinished work? Did you feel confident about successfully answering many of the questions correctly? Did you not care about any of this because it was an irrelevant standardized test? Were you just happy to be in possession of a #2 pencil?
What will be your reaction at the end of our time here on earth when the hourglass runs empty?
What role did faith play in all of your endeavors—family, work, parish, local community, hobbies, recreational activities etc.?
What is the end result?
“Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
OR
“I never knew you.”
Let’s plan to run the race to the finish and complete it well.

Jennifer was born and raised in Pennsylvania, where she earned her B.A. in theology and education at DeSales University in 2009. She went on to work for the Church in a few different capacities, including serving as a FOCUS missionary for two years, working at the parish level as the Director of Religious Education for a time, offering retreats for high school students and parishes and finally landed in her favorite role: teaching theology. Jennifer has taught theology for grades 6-12 and has a soft spot for teenagers. In 2019, she moved to Colorado, giving her the opportunity to return to the classroom as a student and earn her M.A. in theology from the Augustine Institute in 2022. That summer she married her husband Jim. Together they have a sweet but stubborn almost 3 year old named James and a sweet but sassy 7 month old Rosemary. When she isn’t wrangling her beautiful children, Jennifer teaches at the Catechetical School for the Saint John Vianney Lay Division, where she is privileged to share the Catholic faith with adults.
